Oxford University Press Text Capture Instructions

There are four distinct abbreviations lists maintained within Art_Appendix.xml. These are each captured as an individual div1 element which contains a p/list[@class='abbreviations']. The individual lists are:

• Bibliographic Abbreviations
• Music Library Sigla
• Collection Sigla
• Additional Abbreviations

Where a new abbreviation has been identified, a new item1 element must be added to the correct div1/p/list[@class='abbreviations'] section identified. This item1 must be marked up according to the core instructions for abbreviations.

The item1 and abbrevExpansion must have unique id attributes in the following format: omo-9781561592630-miscMatter-2-[element name]-nnnn where 'nnnn' is unique in the document.

Where a new abbreviation is not needed, but the text of the abbreviation has changed, update the identified abbrev or abbrevExpansion text in the Music_Appendix.xml file. Do not modify the id attributes.

In bibliographic citations using these abbreviations, use the full abbreviation expansion to populate the title or journalTitle attribute of the bibItem element.
