COTUS Monographs chapters (articles, sections, chapters, parts, etc.)
Use the chapter element to capture all the headings that appear in bold in the table of contents (TOC).
Determine which content to capture as chapter elements based on the structure and presentation of the text and not necessarily based on the enumerators.
In some instances, this means:
- That
article
headings receive the chapter element (e.g. Alabama). - That
part
headings receive the chapter element (e.g. New Hampshire) - That
chapter
headings receive the chapter element (e.g. Vermont). - That other mixed headings receive a chapter element depending on the
structure of the monograph.
For example, Maryland contains
article
headings that are captured as both div[1-7,N] divisions and chapter elements.
