Oxford University Press Text Capture Instructions

Figures

Capture figures outside the normal flow of text, in a floatGroup element. Capture each figure within a figureGroup element. Figures generally consist of one or more images and a caption. A figure may have a title instead of a caption. A figure may have a source.

Figure captions are usually preceded by an enumerator, for example Fig 1, and appear beneath the image.

Figure titles normally appear above a figure and do not include an enumerator.

An image that is not accompanied by a caption, title or a source is a graphic.

At the point where the figure should be displayed, insert a processing-instruction in the text and set the ID value to the id attribute value of the corresponding figureGroup element. For example:

<?Insert-Figure ID="acref-9780192831934-figureGroup-1"?>

Inside the figureGroup element capture a single figure element containing a graphic element to identify the image file and a caption element to contain the caption text.

If instructed to block a figure for online products (for example, due to copyright reasons), add the attribute electronicRight with value N to the graphic element.

Where available, capture the altText in the altText attribute of the graphic element.

Store the file name only in the sysId attribute of the graphic element.

Do not include the folder name or any folder structure in the sysId attribute.
