Alternate versions

Where the source includes alternate versions of text such as for translations or for the addition of specific features such as QR codes, capture the alternate version at the same level in the XML structure as the original and capture the version type in the versionType attribute.

Depending on where the data model allows alternate versions, you can capture them at block level, using for example div1 or miscMatter elements, or inline using the span element.

Versioning attributes in alternate text
Two versions of the same text should consist of identical hierarchies of div[1-7,N] elements. Label the second and subsequent versions as derived using the versionOf and versionType attributes.
Medium specific features (print or digital)
Where a manuscript contains alternative content for medium specific features (print or digital), the OUP provide typecodes to indicate the required medium.
