Single Best Answer type answers

Single Best Answer questions or instructions can include phrases such as "single most appropriate answer", "single best answer", or "best answer", which can indicate the question is type Single Best Answer (SBA). Answers for Single Best Answer questions will always consist of only one answer from the list of possible answer options.

Do not confuse Single Best Answer type questions with Extended Matching Questions type. Extended Matching Questions can also contain only one answer from the list of possible answer options but EMQ questions are made up of scenarios.

Capture the p element that contains the question with attribute role="question". If the question spans multiple paragraphs, capture all the corresponding p with role="question" also. Do not confuse questions with instructions and scenarios.

All sentences with a question mark are questions. There can also be questions that are posed as a statement, phrase, or a single word.

Answers are the letter of the correct multiple choice option and can be followed by an answer explanation. Capture answers and answer explanations together in a p element. Mark up answers in an xrefGrp element with role="answer". The ref attribute has the same value as the id attribute of the multiple choice option from the question.
