OXIO reusing XML from other products
Some OXIO source documents have already been captured in XML for other OUP products. These do not require fresh conversion, but special instructions apply for handling these files.
If XML already exists for a source document, this will be indicated at handover. Follow the below steps for reusing XML for OXIO from other products.
Retain the original file and @ids
The new OXIO headnote should refer to the source ID of the existing source document, as per OXIO Headnote: ID of associated source document and the example below.
<metaItem about="e">
<!-- additional metadata -->
<metaDescribes predicate="oxio-source-id">law-icgj-280pcij26</metaDescribes>
</metaItem>
Add 'OXIO' product code
Below the original product code(s), add the 'OXIO' product code in a metaDescribes element with the attribute predicate="product".
Add link to PDF
If the original file does not contain a link to the PDF, add it as per normal rules for that DTD, and include a role="OXIO" on the fileRef element.
Bundle the new PDF with the XML, as per the general instructions.
Populate missing metadata fields
When the source document is a case report, check the OXIO headnote, and add the below metadata fields to the pre-existing XML if they are missing:
- Content type
- Citations
- Originating jurisdiction
- About jurisdiction
- Dates/date roles
If there are discrepancies between the metadata in the headnote vs. the pre-existing XML, query with OUP.
