group. There must be a minimum of 1 party within caseName.

Headnote Jurisdiction/Court/Chamber/Arbitral Institution
Headnotes give information as to where the case was heard as a
Jurisdiction/Court/Chamber/Arbitral Institution string with typographic highlighting to
indicate the meaning of the different parts.

Headnote Seat of Arbitration
For non-OPIC IC law reports, capture the name of the city in which the case was heard
as the seat of arbitration in the location element.

Headnote arbitrators or judges
Capture the names of the arbitrators or judges hearing the case in a judge group. There
must be a minimum of one arbitrator.

Headnote counsel details
Capture the names of the counsel involved in the case in the counselGrp group with each party represented in a separate counsel element.

Case procedural stage and previous stages
From the headnote, capture the stage within the judicial process that the case has
reached, e.g., first instance, or appeal in one or more stage
elements within the stageGrp block.

Headnote governing law for IC law reports
Capture the governing law for the case inside an authRules
(authoritative rules) element. This element is only required for IC law reports.

The headnote Citations field provides the common name for the case, as well as
one or more citations identifying sources where the case has been reported.

Headnote key subjects and keywords
Keywords selected from a list of options by the authors act as a taxonomy for searching
for law reports. Capture one or more key subjects in a keyCatGrp group, and
one or more keywords in a keyWrdGrp group.

Headnote Core Issues field
Capture authored text describing the main issues of the case in issue elements. Capture each new issue paragraph in a separate issue element.

Capture the facts of the case using the narrative text structure of the DTD
(div[1-7,N]
p) within the textMatter element.

Capture the outcome of the hearing using the narrative text structure of the DTD
(div[1-7,N]

Capture the authored analysis of the case from the headnote Analysis field using

Capture the name of each author of the headnote (there may be more than one

If the case has been taken to appeal or to a further hearing since the decision under
consideration was made, the hearings are listed in the Subsequent Developments field. If
there are developments in another case related to the decision under consideration, the hearings
are listed in the Related Developments field.

Headnote Instruments cited field
The Instruments cited field gives a list of international conventions referred
to in either the headnote or Judgment. Capture each instrument in a separate
bibItem.

Headnote cases cited
Capture a key case group (keyCaseGrp element) for the key
cases listed in either the headnote or the judgement and capture each case in a keyCase element. Where appropriate, group the cases together in sub-groups
(keyCaseSubGroup element) and capture the nationality or
jurisdiction grouping in a title element.

Headnote Reporter field
The Reporter field records the name of the authors who have put together the case report. Each name is captured as in a
nameGrp group.

IC Law Reports - OPIC decisions
Headnotes reporting an OPIC decision include the text OPIC decision in the
Type field.

IC Law Reports - Empty Citations field
In some early case report headnotes, the Citations field has been left blank.
You can stillcreate and capture a citations field based on other information within the
headnote.
