OxPsych: External references
Capture External references between different Clinical Psychology books in extRef elements.
External references are commonly found TTW series, where a Therapist Guide must link up to a
Patient Workbook. These are commonly identified by wording such as (Corresponds to section #
of the workbook)
in a Therapist Guide. The number, “#”, must be linked with
extRef to the chapter in the corresponding Workbook, which has the same
title as the Therapist Guide, while “workbook” should be linked to the Workbook itself.
Example: Chapter 2 ('First Session’) in the Durand: When Children Don’t Sleep Well, TG (9780195329476) Therapist Guide starts with:
(Corresponds to chapter 1 and 2 of the workbook)
"1" and "2" must be linked using extRef to the first and second chapters of the Durand: When Children Don’t Sleep Well, WB (9780195329483) Workbook respectively. "workbook" must be linked with extRef to the Durand: When Children Don’t Sleep Well, WB (9780195329483) Workbook itself.
An extRef external link element needs 2 attributes, docRef for the reference of the workbook, and ref for the ID value of the target (this will be the id of the book when linking directly to the Workbook itself and the id of the chapter or other lower level element when linking to those items).
-
Set the docRef attribute value to the id attribute value of the root element in the
target.
For example, docRef="med-9780195329483" for the Workbook.
- In a XML copy of the target document (in this case an XML copy of the Workbook) find the relevant chapter or lower level strucutre.
-
Copy the id attribute value of the chapter or lower level
element to the ref attribute of the extRef link.
In this example, attribute ref="med-9780195329483-chapter-1" for Chapter 1 of the Workbook.
