Each creator must have a class with one of the following values:
-
author -
editor -
translator -
artist -
illustrator -
photographer -
other -
compiler -
reviser -
corpauthor -
serieseditor -
expertcommentator
If present, capture any role the author may have using role. Role values may include:
-
assisting
If present, capture an author's position in a family lineage (e.g. Jr.
, III
) using the lineage element.
If present, capture a contributor’s affiliation using the affiliation element within the same creator element.
If present, capture a contributor’s academic and professional qualifications using the degree element within the same creator element. Capture all of the qualifications together in one degree element. This includes both academic qualifications, such as "Ph.D", and professional designations including (but not limited to) "SJ", "OP", and "R.N." The degree element should also be used to capture letters denoting membership, fellowship, etc. in professional and academic societies, such as "AMRSC".
The invertedForm attribute should contain the contributor's main name (e.g. family name or surname) followed by a comma, space, and the contributor's forenames or personal names. The lineage element should be captured in the invertedForm following the first name(s) and initial(s), and preceded by a comma. The degree element should not be captured as part of the invertedForm.
When an identifier code is given for a contributor, capture it in contribRef
If creator has class="corpauthor" (for corporate or non-personal authors), wrap the creator's name in a corporateName element.
creatorGroup must be captured in the metaInfo for each chunk that requires metadata. Authorship should be determined in the following way:
- If the individual chunk has authorship (typecoded, appears at the top or bottom of the chunk, appears in the book table of contents, etc) use that author.
- If there is no individual authorship present, if the next chunk up has authorship (i.e. such as a part) has authorship use that author.
- If no authorship found at the chunk, or next level up, use the author from the root metadata.
This topic covers capture of creators in the metadata on chunks - for the content display of authors see Author name in sections for articles and Author names in titles for all other content.
