Capture the main text of an OxChapML document in a mainText element and divide it into chapters. Chapters can be grouped into parts, which may themselves be grouped.
Introduction and Conclusion chapters can be identified from the book table of contents and must be captured in chapter elements.
Parts, chapters, and chapter divisions usually have titles. In each case capture titles in the titleGroup element.
The basic subdivision of an OxChapML document is the chapter. The extent of a chapter is normally clearly identifiable, either from a labelled number ("Chapter 1"), from the book's table of contents, or from specific instructions for the data set. Capture chapters with the chapter element.
Parts or sections group chapters under a heading. The heading is usually numbered, and there is often a label for the number as well (e.g. Part II, Part A, Section A). Capture parts or sections that group chapters using the part element.
Parts and chapters can all be preceded by front matter (for example, epigraphs). Capture these using the chapterFrontMatter and partFrontMatter elements.
Capture metadata for each chapter or part using metaInfo.
In Practitioner Law content (including looseleaf titles), individual paragraphs may be numbered. These numbers normally appear in the margin of the printed title. Capture the paragraph number as enumerator role="paraNum". Where the enumerator is the first child of the p to which it relates.
Sometimes in OxChapML documents, chapters may be merged, split or grouped. Merged chapters are multiple chapters that have become a single chapter. Split chapters contain sub-chapters, grouped chapters are presented together.
Parts and chapters can all be followed by back matter (for example, chronologies). Capture these using a miscMatterGroup element with miscMatter elements that use class attributes to identify the type of back matter content.
