OBO use name groups in bibliographic items

In references, within the bibItem, capture names of authors with their titles in a nameGrp group. The attributes of this element pick out the components of the name and the role of the person.

These instructions extend the general instructions.

Within bibItem, capture author’s names, including titles (Dr, Prof, etc), within the nameGrp.

Capture group and corporate names if appropriate.

Names captured in nameGrp are typically the same names that populate the author and partAuthor attributes of the bibItem, but you must also capture additional names that appear.

When copy editors underline the main name part of a personal name in the source document. Capture the underlined portion as the value of the mainName attribute. Do not capture the underline formatting to XML.

    When a name is not a personal name, for instance when it is a corporate or group name (for example IBM, or The New York Ballet) or when it is a non-invertible names (for example Yoshimi Yoshiaki), use the nameType attribute in a nameGrp element.
