Oxford University Press Text Capture Instructions

Titles (chaptered works)

Parts, chapters, and chapter divisions usually have titles. In each case capture titles in the titleGroup element.

//titleGroup

The titleGroup element is also used on many other elements. The child elements of titleGroup are self-documenting. However, note:

  • A titleGroup should only capture chapter author(s) where there is a listed author for the chapter, either in the table of contents, or accompanying the title in the chapter itself. In these cases, capture the author(s) in a creatorInfo element within the chapter's titleGroup element.
    Unlike the creatorGroup metadata element, which must be used for every chapter, the creatorInfo element is only used when individual chapter authors are specified.
  • If there is a colon separating the title and subtitle, do not capture it.
  • Do not use titleVariant
  • Do not use lrHead and rrHead, they are deprecated
