IC Law Reports - Empty Citations field

In some early case report headnotes, the Citations field has been left blank. You can stillcreate and capture a citations field based on other information within the headnote.

/case/headNote/citeGrp/bibItem[1]

In such cases, the create and capture a citations field from the following components:

  • Name(s) within Party 1 (aka Claimant) field. Separate multiple names with commas (if there are more than two) and the word and before the last name
  • v.
  • Name of country in Party 2 (aka Respondent) field
  • Content of Procedural Stage field (separated by a comma from preceding content)
  • Content of Case Number field (if present) or 'Ad hoc—' followed by Arbitral Rules field (if Case Number not present) (separated by a comma from preceding content). The em-dash (x2014) should have no space separating it from the content on either side. If the Case Number is present, precede it with the content of the Arbitral Institution field (if present), or the content of the Court field (if present) and the words "Case No." - e.g. "ICSID Case No. ARB/02/04" If the Arbitral Rules field is used instead, follow it with the words "Arbitral rules" if they do not appear in the field - e.g. " Ad hoc—UNCITRAL Arbitral Rules"
  • Content of Case ID field (separated by a comma from preceding content)
  • Content of Date Signed field (if present) or Date of despatch field (if Date Signed not present) (separated by a semicolon from preceding content)
  • Capture the text up to but not including the semicolon before the date in the bibItemTitle element, and populate the attributes of bibItem in the usual way.
