//partOfSpeech

An entry may have more than one part of speech. Both may appear immediately after the headword, or there may be one part of speech, followed by a definition, followed by another part of speech and its definition. In the latter case, capture the second part of speech in a partOfSpeech element within the main text of the entry.

The following list gives the most common parts of speech:

  • n. [noun]
  • adj. [adjective]
  • v. [verb]
  • adv. [adverb]
  • prep. [preposition]
  • pron. [pronoun]
