Oxford University Press Text Capture Instructions

Punctuation, Spacing and Case

Place in-line tags directly against the content they are tagging, with spaces, brackets, and other punctuation outside the tag. Do not capture line-break hyphens in words.

There are cases where the logic of the structure requires punctuation to fall within the in-line tag, for example brackets within legal references, the general rule for brackets is: they should be symmetrical - either both inside or both outside a certain element (preferably both outside).

If a line-break hyphen occurs at the end of a page, capture the page break processing instruction at the end of the word.

All elements, attributes and text are case sensitive. Capture text as it appears on the page unless specific instruction is given otherwise.
