OCL Legal Materials

Legal materials for the OCL data set consist of all the materials (instruments) that make up the Macnab volume of the Bellamy & Child series. Capture each chapter of this work as a separate OxLawML document.

The XML document should start with relevant declarations, DTD and TCI information:

    The title of instruments in the Macnab document are indicated by a bold typeface at the start of the source document following the section identifier.

  2. References in the original citation in OCL Legal Materials

    Capture references in the original citation in an appropriate format separated by the pipe character within the original citation idnumber attribute.

  3. OCL Legal Materials EUR-Lex permanent link value

    Capture the link URL from the EUR-Lex permanent link: field as the url attribute of the original citation in the first bibItem element. You need only capture this URL for the original citation.

  4. OCL Legal Materials Original Citation Date value

    Capture the original citation date from the supplied Document ID in the date attribute of the original citation in the first bibItem element.

  5. OCL Legal Materials Date Adopted value

    When required, this date is contained in the title of the document, usually preceded by the word of. Where this date is not in this format, do not capture the adoption date.

  6. OCL Legal Materials Date Published value

    When a value is available, capture the publishing date from the Official Journal reference. Omit this regDate element if a value is not available.

  7. OCL Legal Materials Date enacted value

    When the headnote spreadsheet contains a Date enacted value, capture it in the metadata in the regDateGrp group using a regDate element with attribute role="enacted".

  8. Identifying note types in OCL Legal Materials

    For OCL Legal Materials, capture the three different types of notes present in source documents as notes, numbered notes, or commentary depending on their type.
