New case report versions (Law)
Case reports are often updated. Usually, the change is described in a headnote in which most of the fields are not completed. A full headnote may also be updated with additional commentary and references.
When a document is updated, existing id values must not change.
When adding any new elements to an existing file, the new elements must be assigned a new unique id value from the next available number, regardless of where the new element is appearing in the file. This results in the numbers in the elements NOT being sequential, but this is not important. It is more important that the existing elements do not change id numbers from one version to the next.
Typesetters should perform a comparison of old and new versions whenever an update is made, to ensure that IDs have not changed and to flag other differences between the versions.
Please supply OUP with a report on the changes between versions.
