Position of Page Processing Instructions
Processing instructions (PI) for page breaks (including endpapers) must be a descendant of specific elements that include p and bibItem.
Place page processing instructions inside one of the following elements:
- p
- bibItem (except legal bibItem classes)
- indexItem1
- alphabet
- titleVariant
- multiBibItem
- headwordGroup [OxEncyclML only]
For <?Page?> and <?endpaperPage?> processing instructions, this placement is a consequence of
their placement rule.
For
<?Insert-*?> processing instructions see Float groups (figures, tables, media, or boxed-matter).

Processing instruction in a paragraph

is a prefix of Latin origin, and is used to form words that include the meaning ‘together,
in common’. Spelling practice varies with regard to use of a hyphen: some words (especially
when the second element begins with a vowel) include it, whereas others are written as one
word. The diaeresis (ö) that formerly punctuated words as in coöperate, is now
largely disused. Recommended spellings are as follows:<?Page pageId="100"?>
<milestone unit="page" num="100" id="med-9780199225528-chapter-7-milestone-100"/>

Note processing instructions should not be captured within bibItem elements with legal classes.
