Case ID

Each law report has a case number (or citation) for use as a reference within other documents. The citation is a unique identifier and is captured as the caseid attribute value within the parent case element.

Each Headnote must have the caseid attribute set. You can find the ID in the field labelled Case ID at the top of the headnote.

Case IDs have the following structure:

ORIL
SERIES nn (JJ YYYY)

OXIO
OXIO nn

Where:

series
identifies the series the case report belongs to, as in Case Series (Law Reports).
nn
is the unique and sequential number, starting from 1 (with no lead zeros)
JJ
is the jurisdiction/court identifier that is derived from these codes. For International law in domestic courts also look up the ISO country codes.
YYYY
is the year of the judgment
