Line and folio numbers

Capture line and folio numbers in a target element with the relevant target-type attribute.

When text contains line or folio numbers to help the reader locate references, use the following target-type attribute within a target element:

Type of number target-type value
line numbers (sequential numbering identifying lines in a text) line
folio numbers (page numbers within primary source material) folio

Example line number
