Audience-specific content

Capture a specific-use attribute identifying when a piece of content is intended for an audience that differs from the one that is consuming the surrounding content.

The piece of content could be, for example, a boxed text, a fragment of code, a mathematical equation, a list, a figure, or a section.

As of March 2026, the only allowed value allowed value for audience-specific content is specific-use="extended" to differentiate content intended for users who can stretch to a higher level.

If a piece of content for an extended audience needs an additional value for the specific-use attribute, capture both values separated by a space.
