Oxford University Press BITS Typecodes

Part

The Part typecode is used to enclose all content contained in a single part of a book. This will identify information needed for the part front matter if applicable.

Typically a part will contain the Label, Title-Head (and where relevant, the Subtitle) as nested typecodes. The Contributor code can also be nested here when parts have particular attribution.

Use the Opener code to cover other content in the part front matter.

The part manuscript is often a separate document from the chapter manuscripts. For typecoding purposes, the Part typecode does not need to contain the Chapter typecodes nested within, even though in the book the chapters are within the part.
