printTarget
The print target element, used to identify a paragraph that is or may be the target of a cross-reference. This element must always be empty.
Description
The printTarget element is used in conjunction with the printRef attribute on the xref element.
Its purpose is to aid in the addition of cross-references in the XML following the creation of the index and the addition of cross-references by the author. Indexers and authors use section IDs in the manuscript to indicate the target of cross-references. The section IDs are used to populate the printID attribute on printTarget.
When the final XML is tagged, ref attributes on xref elements are populated with IDs for div ancestors of the printID targets.
