Data Model Documentation

Introduction

This document describes the elements and attributes in OUP's core data models for books, documents, and legal materials.

DTDs

Name Description
OxChapML Books with chapters.
OxEncyclML Books with A-Z reference entries.
OxLawML Legal instruments, e.g. treaties, legislation.
OxLawRepML Legal case reports.
OxStructML Single documents.

The DTDs share a common core data model.

Certain elements are defined in more than one DTD. Where this is the case, all declarations are given. The first is from OxChapML and the others are labelled with the DTD they belong to. For example: <part>.

Sometimes the declarations are identical, sometimes they differ slightly. The list of children given in the documentation for that element will list children from all declarations of the element.
